Learn about Eco-friendly Reusable Food Containers| IKLM Did

Is Your Family’s Health At Stake?

Let’s find out why IKLM products decided to become more Eco-friendly in the first place.  We all have our reason to save the planet and we know that the usage of certain things is bad for you.  All of us hear about how plastic is really bad for the environment.  Most of us try to be eco-friendly by cutting down on our usage of plastic bags.  We hear news about the toxins in our foods, and we start trying to buy organic more. Now,  we feel that we have played our part in becoming more eco-friendly, right?.    Would you do more, if your family’s health was at stake?  What if your meal delivery choices came back to haunt you? This is what happened in our IKLM family.  They had a  food health crisis that made them start looking for alternatives to toxins in their food. This made them want to learn about Eco-Friendly reusable food containers.

Living the Best Version of Yourself

I know Lucky Moon products are run by two inspiring entrepreneur moms who felt passionately about living the best version of themselves. They designed IKLM around finding the best version of yourself by making life easier and mindful by giving unique and thoughtful gifts.  However, after the food health crisis, the IKLM Product story changed to include using and giving the good stuff.  Which meant for them, finding out about becoming more eco-friendly and paying more attention to their environment. The food health crisis is what caused  I Know Lucky Moon to become your health-conscious and mindful giving go-to.

Do You depend on Food Delivery?

The story goes that they depended on lunch and dinner food deliveries almost daily. Since they worked at home and the pandemic limited going out,  they had no choice. It was convenient and they were in the middle of starting up their new business.   They also depended on food delivery and grocery delivery as a way for food prep.  They would not only use the containers for storage but would plan meals to freeze and heat up later.

Their wake-up call didn’t happen overnight.  It didn’t happen until Lucky’s family’s health became the focal point. This is when she came to realize that the dinner containers that she had been ordering and using frequently, was slowly making her family sick.

The story goes, that after the start of the pandemic, her family started mentioning a number of health-related issues.   First, her husband started complaining of constant headaches.  Then,  Lucky herself began having stomach issues.  But what really made her go to the doctor was when their five-year-old started having health issues.

After the doctor told them that it was likely conditions brought on by toxic buildup,  Lucky began wondering how that could have happened, because she never considered that it was from the outside food containers.

Using Additives to Enhance Performance

But, she was to find out otherwise.   Lucky decided to do a little research, on her own.  From, that research, Lucky began to understand that the healthy food they were ordering was always delivered in some type of plastic container and even reheated in them.  So, she started studying the containers

One of the many things that Lucky found out was that the plastic manufacturers often included “additives ”  in their plastic containers to enhance their plastic container’s performance and that these addictive (chemicals) often leaked into the foods they were carried in.  This finding was confirmed in a 2009 study by Mike Neal and Dr. Anthony Andrady that was published in Philosophical Transactions B).  After understanding this Lucky knew that there had to be a better way to keep her family away from plastic and toxins.

Lucky became keenly aware of the need to get her family’s health back on track and started to look for an eco-friendly way of doing so.

Lucky decided from the study that one of  IKLM products would be silicone bags and containers that would help them become more eco-friendly.

Why Go Green with IKLM Silicone Bags

As an answer to Lucky’s health scarce and her determination to find a better solution to toxic plastic.  IKLM  Products chose silicone bags to help them become more eco-friendly.

They proved that they were one of the best green alternatives to plastic containers.

For one reason, a piece of silicone can stay in use much longer than a similar piece of plastic before breaking down.

Silicone bags resist oxidative deterioration (normal aging) for decades on end. In fact, studies have shown that silicone thrives on challenges, including exposure to extreme heat and cold, harsh chemicals, sterilization, rain, snow, salt spray, ultraviolet radiation, ozone, and acid rain, just to name a few.

Consumer advocate Debra Lynn Dadd conducted her own research into silicone rubbers and says silicone “is not toxic to aquatic or soil organisms, it is not hazardous waste, and while it is not biodegradable, it can be recycled after a lifetime of use.”

Also if the silicone container is disposed of properly at recycling sites, (unlike plastic) it can be taken and converted back into inorganic, harmless ingredients: amorphous silica, carbon dioxide, and water vapor.

There are  Benefits of Silicone over Plastic also

Are you curious about the benefits of silicone as compared to plastics? Silicone is also odor and stain-resistant. It’s hygienic and hypoallergenic with no open pores to harbor bacteria making it great for food containers and lunch bags. It does not fade or scratch.

The key to being a careful consumer is to only buy high-quality silicone that’s food grade.  You must remember that not all silicone is created equal.  For them to reduce costs, some manufacturers added fillers to the product. Luckily there is a simple way to tell: pinch and twist a flat surface on the item. If white shows through, the product contains filler.   So, Buy IKLM products, to make sure,  they are made with the best ingredients possible.

How are  Eco- Friendly IKLM Products different?

By using eco-friendly  IKLM  storage bags, you are able to store all types of foods including snacks for lunch and school, sandwiches, fruits, veggies, soups, marinades, all types of meats, chicken, seafood, and even pet foods in them because they come in many shapes, sizes, and colors.

And these  IKLM Products are not only useful inside the house but outside as well, ask the BBQer in the family.

It looks like we have an eco-friendly storage bag champ that can go from freezer to microwave, to table, to the dishwasher, and more.

You can just wash them quickly by hand if you don’t want to put them in the dishwasher.

IKLM silicone containers have a sustainable eco-friendly design that gives them an advantage of being reused over and over just like glass cookware. The silicone product lasts just as long.    Well, I haven’t tested that part, yet.

This is my first look into the IKLM Product story and why they are becoming eco-friendly.  I have gathered some nice pros and cons, and I will share them with you later.

 My Conclusion

IKLM silicone bags were founded on the concept of safety and reusability.  They are useable, durable, eco-friendly, and also help to reduce waste. Waste reduction ( especially plastic waste) is the other part of the concept that will help us save the planet. More discussion on non-plastic use in my next post.

While embracing the IKLM Silicone Storage Bag Story of finding the best version on yourself, I will also follow all of IKLM products to see if they are following their concept of “Purpose Driven Consumption” of becoming more eco-friendly.
